The GOP has a severe branding problem. They need to go on an educational offensive that eschews labels such as "conservative," "libertarian," and "Republican." It should be all about Mainstream American Values: -We believe in liberty. -We believe in each individual having rights and responsibilities. -We believe each individual should be able to make their own decisions about healthcare. -We believe each individual should be able to enjoy the rewards of their hard work without having an onerous burden of taxes. -We believe the federal government is spending too much money. -We believe the deficit and the debt need to be reduced. -We believe this country should be the strongest and safest country in the world. -We believe in the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. These are Mainstream American values. These are values that are still held by a majority of those who call themselves liberal. These are values still held by a majority who call themselves libertarian. These are values still held by a majority who call themselves conservative. These are not the values of the current Democratic Party in America. The Democratic Party has lost its way. The only way to stop an increasingly powerful and oppressive federal government and its bureaucracy is to have large enough opposition majorities in the House and in the Senate to effectively block the agenda of the current Democratic Administration. If Republicans want to win, that should be the kind of message they deliver. (I'm sure many of you could do a better job than I just did - go for it --- please!)
