But Christ supposedly said "Render unto Caesar...." As for what Jesus allegedly said, none who wrote the gospels ever heard him speak, and multiple translations/interpretations make many things attributed to him suspect. Same with the Jewish bible generally...the 10 Commandments were derived from more than 10 (perhaps 18 originally-- crowd control by the rabbi's), and the interpretation changed over time. I would argue, as have some theologians, that if Jesus had not come here until today people would fathom him to be a nut if he were to say many of the same things (rich man cannot get into heaven, love your enemy, etc.). And Jesus himself was an "apocalyptic prophet" who believed that god was coming on down for the Judgment Day DURING HIS LIFETIME and make him king on Earth. I need no bible to tell me that limited guvment and free will with respect to social freedom rights (as long as they do not infringe on others) is USUALLY best. I do NOT need the religious right telling me how to behave...nor do I want the secular Left trying to ban Christmas displays, carols, etc.
