I have read the book. Barry Goldwater was the beginning of right-wing movement conservatism that eventually led to the Tea-Party. In the 1960's there was a political struggle in the Republican party much like today. You had moderate Republicans (Rockefeller, Lindsey) and movement conservatism (Goldwater, Schafly) which eventually purged the Republican party of moderates. Other books of movement conservatism to read are; "A choice not an echo" by Phyllis Schafly and "he new emerging Republican Majority" by Kevin Phillips.
