When Charles Starkweather murdered eleven people in Nebraska and Wyoming in the late 1950's President Eisenhower had the good sense not to say that if he had a son he'd look like Starkweather. (I know Eisenhower actually had two sons.) The current president did not follow Eisenhower's example and now every time heinous crimes are committed by African Americans people ask if Obama had son would he look like the perpetrators. That's not a good look for the president.
Americans have been goaded into having a conversation on race, and it isn't pretty.
