As a Texan, I would prefer Cruz to Perry. However, I don't think Cruz can get through the "Republican Establishment" to get the nomination. Republican leaders seem to think that moderates are stronger than the hard-core, despite the fact that the Dems keep winning with their hard-core candidates.
America is not as centric as the media is letting on. We are increasingly divided between hard-left and hard-right. Those on the hard-right don't want to vote for a wishy-washy president an so will stay home on election day rather than vote for the lesser-of-two-evils (like Mitt Romney).
I think it's time to face that facts that the Republican leadership is completely out of touch with the American public.
