@Lee651 - Bottled water is a luxury? I agree. Gasoline is not????? I strongly disagree. Gasoline is a pure luxury. It is not a necessity anymore than a phone is a necessity.
Other products HAVE had a corresponding rise, heating oil for example.
The reason plastics do not fluctuate is because of the process for making plastics.
Your argument about hydrolysis is faulty on two counts:
1) If you really think you can get more energy than you put in then the whole fabric of physics is wrong. At least my physics classes were wrong;
b) Your analogy of the avalanche shows you know nothing of physics (hence your other assumption is flawed) - the snow is being held in place by friction and has enormous POTENTIAL energy stored by the mass of the snow and gravity. The clap is just the catalyst, much like the clap ( simple term for your simple mind) that starts a nuclear device.
