There is all this 'back and forth' on this Immigration issue, but there is never the discussion of the solution to the problem that includes the Immigration Bureau itself. A few years ago all of the fees for legal status were raised to almost DOUBLE in most cases. This provided a self fulfilling exaserbation of the process. With most of low income means, in order to be legal, they were asked to pay twice as much for registration of their status. Makes sense? The Bureau was always willing to accept these fees, but weren't nearly as forthcoming with the subsequent acknowledgement with the necessary documentation. This is yet another demonstration of Washington's inability to 'run' anything effectively, when the simple solution is to let states handle it and then submitt to a data base the proper status and documentation. This rides along side of the administration and the justice department chastising states for asserting the 'law' as outlined in Washington, yet they refuse to assert it themselves....for whatever reasons. It is as if 'legal' and 'illegal' have no meaning. This is yet another 'knife in the air' that is being juggled in Washington. Just a thought........
