Everyone has manners. Unfortunately, we seem to be "trending" (to use the current term) toward mostly bad ones. Not unexpectedly, since good manners are no longer taught, or even expected by more and more of society. It doesn't seem to matter the venue, face-to-face, phone, email, respect is what is lacking. Self respect comes from accomplishment--more than merely showing up. Respect for others is based in self respect (that archaic "as you would others do unto you").
