I always thought morals applied to lifestyle choices such as marry vs living together while the ideals of honesty and truth are the ethics providing the foundation for moral decisions. When ethics are defined as morals the waters can become very muddy indeed IMHO because there is longer a distinction between right and wrong. You cannot legislate morals, but you can enforce ethics when they are clearly defined. No lying, no stealing, no cheating, no exceptions. Everything else becomes choice, allowable as long as it harms no one else.
