He was a force for good as president because he had great principles to stand on. He is modest, considerate, self-deprecating, and humorous. He was not Napoleonic as Obama is. People castigate W for going into Iraq, but they cannot say with clarity what the world would have been like today if Saddam Hussein were still alive. (I would say more terrorism and weapons of mass destruction; yes, American troops did find chemical weapons there.) W was right, people yearn to be free. Whether the common men and women can reform their religious society to allow that freedom remains to be seen.
