Good article. My employer does do all things legal to ensure all of my fellow workers are legal. I know of one employee who was dismissed because he was illegal. The information he supplied did not match. My employer got a letter or a call from some federal agency, indicating the information was false, That employee was let go. Nobody from ICE came for him.
However, the employee mentioned above was employed for 4 years before the false information was uncovered. That same employee worked a lot of overtime too.
That employee was a good worker, showed up on time, did good work, and was liked by others..
So not all employers are bad or intentionally file bad W-2s. In some cases the system is slow to respond.
What is the answer? Hmmmm..
