When I was a kid, my parents always made me do my homework first. No TV until the homework was done! I admit that I did enjoy school, especially math, science, and English. I went on to earn a B.S. in physics, entered the Marine Corps, and then to graduate school to earn a Ph.D. in physics. Oh, I'm Asian American. All of this brings to mind one of the paradigms in the Corps of old. The officers always made sure the horses and mules were fed first, then the enlisted men, finally the officers. In the same vein, homework first, then play. That's how you get ahead in the world.
