2. Financial. Kids could pretty quickly help around the farm and then take care of you when you got old. Today, they are nothing but a financial liability. Also, it was the sharing of work itself and sense of common purpose that ushered men into becoming fully bonded with their children. Ie. they shared everything in common with their kids. Today, a son knows about as much about what his father does at work as a father knows about what his son is doing in school. Not much, nor do either really care as long as the money keeps coming in from Dad and the kid continues to pass his classes. (Cont.)
