Unfortunately, Black Americans are far worse off than in 1975. While the 1970s saw the first major spike in the murder rates (from drugs), most of the black family was intact, most were Christians, and most had not yet adopted the "we hate everyone" mindset of today.
The literacy rates were higher. There's no comparison in employment numbers, with most black Americans now not working. The crime rates were far lower than now. The STD rates were a fraction of now, with 50% the estimate and HIV somewhere between 40% and 50%.
As of the Bureau of Labor numbers two weeks ago, some ~89 million are out of work. Black America is hit much harder than other groups, mainly due to lawlessness and entitlementmindedness.
