"In a far graver crisis, perpetrated by Nikita Khrushchev in 1962, John F. Kennedy did not hesitate to communicate with the culprit." The perpetrator of the crisis was the nut-job Castro. Kennedy never talked to him. Khrushchev almost lost control of the situation because Castro wanted to use the nukes!
The "leader" of the free-world talking to a petulent tin-pot dictator will only inflate his ego even more (dictator, not "leader" - or maybe both).
It stinks, but someone has to live out Law and Order in this world - and I would much rather have it be a free nation like the U.S. of A than a frat house of tin-pot dictators (i.e. U.N.).
