Most people equate quality of life with how much monetary wealth one has. The reality is that one's quality of life depends on his or her health. It follows that whomever controls your health and its care controls your quality of life. So why would any thinking person willingly put their health and its care into the hands of an entity (the government) that has a very bad track record when it comes to successful social programs.
Yet another question is to reason that you can take the worlds most advanced health care system as expensive as it is, place it totally in the hands of that same government, add sum 30 plus million people, most of whom can't contribute a penny and expect it to function efficiently and expect the cost to go down?
