DOMA imposes same restrictions on everyone, gay or straight. A gay man's marriage to another man is not recognized by the Feds, just like that of a straight man's marriage to another man is not recognized by the Feds. Where is the question of unequal treatment under the law? The Supreme Court cannot rule against DOMA without allowing the Feds to further encroach into states' rights, on one hand and unilaterally going against the will of the people expressed in DOMA, on the other hand.
