Fact is Medicare has the strongest purchasing power in health care in the US. While hospitals regulalry charge insurance companies $85 for $3 in gauze, Medicare actually uses its purchasing power to keep costs dow. The "free enterprise" health system we think we have is a facade. Our health care is the most expensive in the world by far and our outcomes are not as good as most. We are not getting value for the money. Obama care will help correct that. It will not happen over night, but it is a step in the right direction. Did you know that universal health care, in every other civilized country, is essentially a cost control system? And ... people go to whatever doc they want, which we can't do yet we think we are freer??
