"Not all ingenuity resides in the United States." Edward Teller 1983. The Israelis are very smart and very determined. They don't need any technical help, though they accept it. They mostly need money, which we mostly provide. The US missile defense system exists in several layers, and is highly effective, meaning almost all missiles from non-Russian, non-Chinese countries would be defeated. Yet there are holes in the defense since the defensive interceptors do not have the speed or energy to reach every possible location where an enemy target missile might be, espectially if one is launched from a barge a couple hundred miles out in the ocean. If we are serious about missile defense, we must deploy something along our coastlines.
