Goldberg writes, "Opponents of same-sex marriage insist gays have the same right to marry a person of the opposite sex as anyone else. It's a clever line, it overlooks the fact that romantic love has been the paramount reason for marriage for quite some time". Wrong. 'Romantic love' is not the 'paramount reason' for marriage, both now or ever before. Marriage is a one-flesh covenant between a man and a woman that was initiated by God in the Garden of Eden for two purposes, (1. to provide a complimentary mate (physically, emotionally, spiritually) to Adam, who was quite alone with no other creature suitable to be his partner, and (2. provide a workable way for the human race to re-produce itself and move forward thru time.
