Actually Mr. Stossel I have to disagree with you here. It's not innovation that's the issue it's moving away from the tried and true methods. They "innovate" every 4-8 years with some "new" method that really doesn't teach the kids much but is about "affirmation".
Kids are told to use computers/calculators to do math, they are taught and tested on computers where little actual writing is involved. Writing helps reinforce what is being taught. They are cutting reading programs to focus on STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathmatics) now I ask you if you can't read and understand the material how does that help?
