Agree that the 17th amendment took away state power. However a disturbing fact is that congressmen can only be removed by congress, they set their own salaries, retirement, travel methods, etc. they have also failed miserably in tasks defined by the constitution such as setting a budget. I suggest a new amendment called the congressional ethics amendment. This would allow an association of state governors to fire a congressman for ethics violations. The governor of a state can fire his state senator if they are not following the wishes of the state. while we are at it why dont we set limits on salary, expenses, perks, etc. set a new retirement plan relating to best commercial practices and term limits.
