Tell me why it is important for homosexuals to have the STATE recognize their union with the word marriage? I have no trouble with the state recognizing civil unions and granting them the same rights as marriage, but why is that word "marriage" so important? Think about it. If they want their union to be accepted by everyone they will have a far better chance by calling it something other than "marriage", which has been recognized for hunreds and hundreds of years as between one man and one woman.
And don't go calling me homophobic, because I am far from that. I believe homosexual couples should have the same rights and responsibilities as opposite sex couples, but when you aggravate people who DO care you are just making things wose
