IF we ever got to the point that people granted the reality of the (very real) global warming, THEN we could have a rational discussion about the pros and cons of putting up a sort of sunscreen of sulfur dioxide particles, to be renewed every year for forever or until civilization hit a snag, versus building an energy infrastructure, at daunting expense, that could get by without much in the way of fossil fuels. Both options have real merits and real drawbacks.
