When all human knowledge is put online and made available free to all citizens in an interactive degree-earning format, Walter Williams and Thomas Sowell will be among those great minds taken from the very top of the bell curve of all professors, writers, thinkers and doers - the one percent of the one percent - that will provide the content of these courses. Today, we decentralize the content creation and centralize the content delivery. We have it exactly backwards. We reinvent the wheel thousands of times with thousands of lecturers each addressing a few handfuls of students. Eighty percent of those lecturers are, by definition, mediocre. A least 10 percent are downright awful and 10 percent are pretty good.
