This is often a bone of contention between myself and others. (Note correct grammar.) Many persons of my age assume that most teachers are good and dedicated with a few rotten apples. That teachers are underpaid. That was true in the 50's and 60's, but now precisely the opposite is true. Most school districts now require degrees in education and close the door to subject matter experts, assuring themselves that they hire none but overpaid blithering mediocrities whose first loyalty will be to the teachers' union and the Democrat party.
