Human beings need distraction from the daily grind of life. Be it watching a ball game or going to church or listening to music, we enjoy these breaks from reality. (No offense to church goers who consider that the epitome of reality.)
We pay people who can act, sing, or throw a ball well inordinate amounts of money because of the value we place on these distractions. While conservatives want to boycott idiots like Madonna on the one hand, we still enjoying watching "cads" like Tiger Woods play golf. Very few people can restrict their entertainment to classical music and reading classic literature. Because of that, we end up lining the pockets of people we despise like Sean Penn. Life is short and politics isn't everything. Choices people.
