The real meat of the story seems to be that a family from abroad came to America illegally, and are now requesting asylum on the grounds that they don't want to send their kids to public schools. The US Government denies their request for political asylum because not wanting to send your kids to a public school in a country that we are currently friendly with is not a good reason. I love the interpretation Farris gives us: "The Obama administration is basically saying there is no right to home school anywhere". It's like saying 'The sky is either blue or your face is really ugly' Both could be true, but neither necessarily implies the other. Maybe Obama is just saying what he actually said, which was pretty clear and logical.
