Amy: It is quite painful, I sympathize--I've also got a prosthetic left ankle, made w/that new plastic & metal alloy, plus the 2 steel rods & 6 screws holding my lower spine in place . . . My son says I'm the newest version of the Bionic Woman, only they didn't spend that much money on me . . LOL
