Tell me Jay_P, why are all black conservatives considered "tokens"? I am black, and conservative. I realized as a 18 year old boy that I had deeply held conservative values. I did not learn them from my family. They are overwhelmingly liberal democrats, as is my church and pretty much every one that I associate with. I just figured out who I was and what was important to me as a person. That has not changed over the past 30 plus years. Conservatism is not so much a political leaning as is it a set of values and a rational approach to what works and what doesn't, and the things that have made this nation great. I don't consider myself a token for feeling that way, and nor does Dr. Carson, I am sure of it.
