It is an observation of human nature. Prosperity brings complacency. You needn't use the loaded language "goodies, free goodies, more goodies," but you are making an accurate observation. The biggest challenge facing human beings is how to survive prosperity and elevate society to the next level of peace and individual liberty without following all the "empires" into the trash heap.
