I think you need to start from the premise that there is NO conflict between the individual dimension and the so called communal dimension - that the conflict is internal but not actual. People are meant to be individuals within a social setting. Some people think the only thing that is important is a relationship with God. But God was quite specific about what he wants that relationship to be... and repeated it often. The important thing about individualism is not freedom to ignore the world - to be free from it influence and the obligation to contribute, but the uniqueness of the individual's relationship to the world. and the contribution. TO do this you must first accept that you can indeed do good & indent to do so..
