Well, you know, we wonder why our local economies are in a shambles, yet refuse to allow our judges the consider the greater impact to the community in sentencing. You don't just displace a worker, creating new HR costs for a business, you remove a father from a family, there are real dollar costs of jailing an inmate (around $24,000 per year). Let's take a hard look at the 1990's "lock-em-up-and-leave-em" approach. It's not working, folks.
