The fatal error, on the part of both the anti-gun and the anti-video game lobbies, is the belief that "something must be done". The data indicate otherwise: violent crime has been falling consistently since the mid-1990s, including both garden-variety murder and mass murder, with and without the use of firearms--despite the fact that both guns and violent video games have proliferated in this period. That would indicate a negative correlation between both guns and video games and the inclination to commit violent crimes. Both Mr. Bozell and anti-gun zealots are guilty of reductionism. Violence--particularly youth violence--is a complex phenomenon not driven by a single factor.
