Many game commentators have talked about this issue and the conclusion that they've come to is the same one that I've come to and is as follows. Fake violence doesn't desensitize you to real violence. It only desensitizes you to fake violence. If it were true that playing all these games numbed you to real violence then the gaming community, as a whole, wouldn't have cared at all about the Sandy Hook shootings. But that's not the case. We were just as horrified as the rest of the nation. Instead of a pointless dialogue about video games we should be teaching kids the two Commandments that Christ gave us; to love God and to love one another.
