The income tax is a bad tax. Making a bad tax more efficient is generally a bad thing. It would be much better to substitute a national property tax which is much harder to cheat on, but let individuals decide how much they pay rather than politicians setting the rates. If individuals had more control over the taxes they paid, politicians would be more frugal with expenditures.
