The economy of my present home city, Augusta, Georgia, is heavily dependent on the activity at Fort Gordon. Sequester, if and when it happens, will cripple this entire metropolitan area, as several thousand civilian contractors at the fort will be out of work, some permanently. Even if congress and the president eventually agree on spending cuts after sequestration, some of the jobs at Fort Gordon will never come back. This city will wither up and die, and the one week of Masters golf per year won't be enough to save it.
