Oh, yeah. Nothing happened in 1814. Or in 1798. And Lincoln did not pull a coup. Nor did anything happen on the southern border of the US in the early part of the 1900's. There was no need for the veterans to get firearms in Athens GA. Nor did any Japanese admirals mention "Blades of grass" during WWII. Actually, the assumption was that the US fedgov would not have any standing armies of any sort. Yet we end up with what are effectively standing armies as part of the Air Force, Navy, and Marines.
