Isn't it interesting that we always get the whitewashed version of Lincoln. We also see the tyrant and hypocrite that he was. He stated that all people have a right to self determination except when it came to the South. Yes, slavery is wrong. However, the ends do not justify the means. In his effort to free the slaves and preserve the Union, he actually enslaved the States. Not just the Southern States, but all States after the Civil War were subjects to the Federal Government. Lincoln was the one that broke the delicate three legged stool that joined People, State and Federal Government. State sovereignty and representation was eliminate completely with the 17th Amendment where Senators were no longer selected by the States ...
