Celebrity became conflated with wisdom by the egos of celebrities in the baby boomer generation. The main reason celebrities got used to support causes stems from the old TV advertising of the 60s, when celebs were used to get the attention of the audience long enough and often enough to capture them with repetition of brands names and slogans.
