Celebrity became conflated with wisdom by the egos of celebrities in the baby boomer generation. Celebrities from the Greatest Generation understood that being an actor or a singer, or getting rich from it, did not make them more qualified on politics than other people..They also understood that if they wanted to get involved in politics they should give up their show-biz careers and run for office. Examples of this are Shirley Temple Black, Jack Kemp, Bill Bradley, and Ronald Reagan. The main reason celebrities got used to support causes stems from the old TV advertising of the 60s, when celebs were used to get the attention of the audience long enough and often enough to capture them with repetition of brands names and slogans.
