If you spend quite a bit of time in large urban areas, if you work after dark in those areas, yes, it does happen frequently and yes it is frightening. However, more often than not it's just some guy hurrying on his own way home, he passes you and you feel like a dope but you feel safer through the entire situation if you are armed.
