Can you list some of those benefits for married people? Married filing jointly pays a higher tax at $250,000, two singles can make up to $200,000 each before they are taxed at the higher rate. Oldsters now do not marry so they can both keep their Social Security benefits. The social construct of marriage was around long before Republicans as a protection for children.
