Ms. Charen, I remember your other article about the cello; it's one of the reasons I try never to miss anything you write.
I am a firm believer in life as a process of expanding one’s knowledge -- at least, when done right.
I used to tell prospective employees that in all careers -- and by extension, life -- one must "change or die." And, by change I meant continuing to move forward personally through added skills and learning.
I took up writing after I was crushed against a wall by a tractor trailer. Health permitting, I try to write every day and I published my first article at AT in 2011 at 52-years-old.
I will probably never be as good as someone who has written all their life, but I enjoy it. It's my second act.
