Kenneth Galbraith coined the phrase countervailing power,meaning that government was needed to countervail the power of big business and big labor. Galbraith was always wrong, but this was his biggest error. Big government doesn't counter, it joins and accumulates. This should have been obvious, but nothing is obvious to a giant intellectual who is also a leftist.
