Actually, no. If the Supreme Court granted Gay couples "civil unions" with all the attendant benefits and protections of marriage, at all levels of government, fine with me. After all, there wouldn't be language police roaming around, tell Gay couples who are "civil unionized" that they can't refer themselves as MARRIED. When asked by acquaintances where the wedding took place, they would say, "Oh, we were married in Cancun," or whatever. Gay couples would have all the benefits and protections of marriage, they would BE married for all intents and purposes, while social conservatives could claim that they kept the word "marriage" out of the evil clutches of Gay people. Some victory.
