Actually, my post is correct in regards to teachers as well. Our current certification system "attracts" the bottom third of college freshmen, and the bottom third of graduating students. In other words, it guarantees mediocrity. We can discuss more complex employment like lawyers and doctors, though I hasten to point out that Abe Lincoln--though I think he was a terrible president--was certainly a more than competent lawyer who learned his craft entirely from apprenticeship.
