Which of course has nothing to do with and does not address the fact that Professor Bell was indeed trying to enforce integration laws in the deep South at considerable personal risk and that conservative heroes Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan opposed major civil rights legislation. As if this persons is trying to cancel out your legitimate argument with a unrelated and dubious factoid. In fact it is false that a "majority of Democrats were opposed to the act." While it is true that a larger percent of Republicans (80% in the House and 82% in the Senate) voted for the Civil Rights Act than Democrats (63% in the House and 69% in the Senate), a majority of Democrats in both chambers supported it.
