While I wouldn't doubt our police up here would pump a house full of lead. We don't have a highway patrol, the organization that fills that role here is the State Police (affectionately called staters). Maybe in 78 we had more but right now there are only 70 or so in the entire state. Now, up here we have pretty good cooperation between the staters and local law enforcement so it was probably a combination of the two. Also, up here, unlike CA our boys can shoot and tend to come out in force so if a bad guy threatened a cop or took a shot I can see a few hundred rounds going off as each cop fires 2 or 3 rounds....well it's a mess.
