con't: Not just a liability to themselves, but to others. That's not the fault of those they ABUSE. There is a difference. But to hear some people of faith tell it, they think they can just to whatever, say whatever without consequences. Not so. Defamation, libel, slander, lying, threatening, inciting to threaten...these aren't legally protected utterances because they endanger others. Eventually, and this is what the public is seeing for themselves, there are religious leaders that are more and more demanding, obnoxious, cruel, and paranoid. The media isn't obligated to indulge that. And when they tread into libel and slander, they are a liability to that media. And obsessing over gay people in particular, eventually will turn people off.
