I am actually a bigger fan of local governments. I believe every issue should be decided on the level of locality affected by it.
Case in hand: it took 3 years of fighting to get State bureaucrats' approval to reopen a hospital in Westwood, NJ. People of Westwood, Emerson and other neighboring towns were fighting to get a local hospital (the one which existed for years but went bankrupt because of mismanagement). The opposing side were two big hospitals a few miles away, which expanded enormously as soon as this one closed, and now argued that there is a glut of beds in the area.
And why this should be a decision of State bureaucracy?
